Hips
Lower back pain – Usually occurs due to a ligament or muscle sprain and one ligament is the Ilio-lumbar ligament that runs from the pelvis bone to the lowest lumbar vertebra and the injury occurs due to the back being forcefully bent, arched or twisted. Pain occurs in the lower back and buttocks, usually on one side and is made worse by bending, twisting or arching the back. Treatment will involve Massage to relieve the strain on the muscles and Acupuncture to relieve the pain.
Hip Strain – The muscles in the hips help to flex and rotate the pelvic or hip bones and they are prone to wear and tear like any other muscle. Activities such as kicking a ball and when a tear occurs pain can be felt in the front of the hip and groin on impact. Minor tears will result in pain but major tears can stop you from moving at all. Treatment for most muscular pain will involve Sports Massage followed by Acupuncture to reduce scarring and increase the body’s own healing mechanism.
Kidney Infection (Nephritis) – This can also cause lower back ache but other symptoms are also present such as, headache, swelling of the face and legs, nausea and vomiting, urine flow decreases with occasionally blood in the urine. The cause of kidney infection is due to a streptococci infection which can start with a common cold or can travel up the ureter from the bladder. Treatment will involve Acupuncture for the pain and Herbal Remedies to treat the cause.
Renal Colic – Refers to the spasm of the ureter often due to a stone and the pain is in the loins, radiating into the groin and is very intense for a few minutes then subsides, sweating and vomiting can also occur. Treatment will be the same for all Kidney problems Acupuncture for the pain and Herbal Remedies to treat the cause.
Cystitis – Is the inflammation of the urinary bladder caused by a bacterial infection causing painful and frequent urination with fever and excessive sweating in extreme cases. Treatment will involve Acupuncture for the pain and Herbal Remedies to treat the cause.
Retention of Urine – This is an accumulation of urine in the bladder and an inability to pee. It is often caused by an obstruction due to a stone, prostate enlargement in men or the inflammation of the urethra (the tube leaving the bladder). Relief may be attained with Acupuncture and Herbal remedies.
Gynaecological Disorders for Women – Include Amenorrhoea or the absence of periods, Dysmenorrhoea referring to excessive pain during the period, usually felt in the lower abdomen, back and pelvic area. Menorrhagia is excessive loss of blood during a period and can be caused by fibroids or emotional stress. Leucorrhoea is an excessive discharge of white vaginal secretion and occurs due to an infection of Candida or trichomonas. Inflammation of the fallopian tubes (salpingitis), the ovaries the cervix and the vagina can all be due to bacterial infection that spreads upwards from the vagina. Depending on the severity of these conditions antibiotics may be the only option, but in mild cases or to prevent re-infection Acupuncture and Herbal remedies may be beneficial.
